 ANNA'S, LLC

Meeting the Needs of Our Tiniest Population

Linda Dague, president of a Colorado-based store that sells infant clothes, sees "a fine line between making money and losing money" as rising diesel prices affect shipping costs.

ANNA’S, LLC is a rapidly growing company, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, specializing in premature infant clothing for the low birth weight (3-6 pound) infant. The company serves retail and hospitals globally in addition to state and federal contracts. The company has been awarded numerous awards for the design of the garments and for its business practices to include Top 500 Emerging Businesses in the USA for 2007, Top 50 Organizations for Diversity in the state of Colorado, iParenting Award, and recognition from the Ronald McDonald House, to name just a few. Prestigious media sources such as USA Today, NBC, and ABC have broadcast several interviews on the company in addition to print media such as Earnshaw's, Preemie Magazine, and Baby & Childrens's Magazine.

ANNA'S has authored several published articles on the care and needs of low birth weight infants. In addition, the company as been recruited to consult with major corporations on the manufacturing of preemie infant products.

Premature birth rates have continued to climb to over 12% of the total births in the United States alone and steadily growing every year. This translates into a market that consumers have been requesting to be filled yet no other manufacturer has produced such an exclusive line of clothing that meets the needs of this specific market. Additionally, ANNA’S Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) clothing line is so innovative it is patent pending.

ANNA’S spent over nine years researching and gathering premature infant data. Through this research, it was discovered manufacturers that label their clothing Preemie was actually on average five inches too long from wrist to wrist and six inches too large in girth according to the average body measurements of a premature infant. Consumers requiring clothing for the smallest infant was still rolling and tucking the garments to properly fit. ANNA’S clothing lines of Sleepers, Gowns, Bag Gowns, Shirts, and Take Me Home line are designed and manufactured to our specific measurements based on the data gathered ensuring a perfect fit.

The company also designed clothing to accommodate preemies special needs. Infants born within the 3-6 weight range may require heart monitors, g-tubes, apnea monitors, or a host of medical devices to sustain life. Medical personnel and parents had to weave these tubes and leads through the leg of the infants' garment or just leave the tubing draped over the infant. The infant will pull at these life saving devices and dislodge them or cause false alarms, which could cause serious complications. The company's patent pending NICU line has a front panel opening that allows adjustments to medical devices without removing the infants clothing. Soft Velcro tabs located on the outside of the garment contain all tubing and leads away from little hands. To enhance the comfort to the infant all bulk is located on the front of the garment and away from the baby. It also is a gentle reminder not to place the baby on its stomach to help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This line of clothing, which may seem to be specifically for the infant in the NICU environment, may also be needed after the baby is released from the hospital. Many infants are released from the NICU still requiring medical devices or oxygen. These garments provide the versatility parents have been asking for.

All garments are color coordinated to match perfectly to the shirts, bibs, and hats. Bibs Velcro to each garment so dangerous strings are not tied around the infant’s neck. Each garment utilizes Velcro for closure as snaps and zippers are harmful to the delicate preemie’s skin. All labels are located on the outside of the garment to prevent chaffing of their rice paper thin skin. Furthermore, all garments open completely allowing access to the infant without having to undress the baby. Each fabric is individually designed and manufactured utilizing 100% Peruvian combed cotton so the garment is as soft as possible against the baby’s skin.
